Healing with Acupuncture

Why Use Acupuncture?

Acupuncture has been practiced in China for thousands of years as part of a comprehensive system of medicine including diet and herbal therapy, massage, movement, and breathing exercises.

Acupuncture can be effective at treating a wide range of concerns, including acute and chronic pain or illness, and emotional, physical and energetic imbalances.

It can also help us to stay well and to strengthen our immune systems to prevent illness.  Additionally, acupuncture can help us to move harmoniously through seasonal transitions and the stages of life.

Acupuncture treats symptoms while also addressing underlying imbalances.  As a person’s whole system comes more into equilibrium, not only do their symptoms tend to get better, but their overall health improves as well.   Acupuncture is a wonderful form of preventative medicine, in that subtle disharmonies on the Qi level can be diagnosed and treated before they ever develop into symptoms or diseases.

Acupuncture Helps Keep Our Qi Healthy

In traditional Chinese medicine, the body is seen as having a network of channels (meridians) through which the life-force energy of the body (Qi) flows.  When everything is functioning properly, there is plenty of Qi, and the Qi is flowing smoothly through the channels, helping the blood to circulate freely and keeping the organs and tissues of the body healthy.

The state of our Qi is influenced by many factors: our emotions and mental state, diet, season, weather, and our constitution.  When the Qi becomes depleted or blocked, the system becomes imbalanced and pain and disease can develop.  Acupuncture can help restore the natural flow of Qi and bring the body into a more harmonious state.

“I have been seeing Emily for over a year and it has significantly improved my quality of life. I was tired all the time and had migraines at least twice a week. The acupuncture treatments have increased my energy dramatically and I rarely get migraines anymore. I always feel comfortable with Emily and confident in her ability to help me.” - Betsy
